Dill leaves with coconut

Ingredients:


1 bunch Dill leaves

2 medium Onions

2 to 3 Green chilies

4 to 5 Curry leaves

Half a cup Split red lentils

Half a cup Grated fresh coconut

Salt to taste

3.5 cups Water

1/2 tsp Turmeric powder

1 tbsp Oil


Method:

  • Dill leaves are always chopped starting from top moving further toward the end of the stem. Chop it only till the stem part that is tender. Wash well and keep it aside.

  • Wash lentils and keep it aside. Chop onions and slit green chilies.

  • In a pan pour oil and add chilies once oil is hot along with curry leaves.

  • Add Onions and saute for couple of minutes.

  • Add washed split red lentils and chopped dill leaves.

  • Add turmeric, salt and water. Cover the pan and let it cook.

  • Once lentils are soft and also dill, add grated coconut and stir it well. Let it cook till all water evaporates.

  • Take it off the heat and serve with chapati or puri.

Suggestions:


You can also serve it with hot steam rice and dal.
