Goan french beans

Ingredients:


250gms French beans

1 medium size Chopped onion

1/4 cup Bengal gram split and skinned

1/2 cup Grated fresh coconut

1/2 tsp Turmeric powder

2 Green chilies (slit)

5 to 6 Curry leaves

Salt to taste

1 tbsp Oil

1 tsp Mustard seeds

2 cups Water


Method:

  • Wash and soak bengal gram in warm water for about 15 to 20 min or you can choose to soak it over night as well.

  • Cut beans finely and wash it well

  • Chop onions

  • Heat oil in a deep wok, add mustard seeds. Once they splutter add slit chilies, curry leaves and chopped onions. Sauté for a minute.

  • Add french beans, turmeric, salt and water. Close the wok and let it cook. Periodically check if bengal gram is cooked.

  • Once bengal gram and french beans is cooked, add grated coconut and mix well. Let all water get evaporated.

  • Serve with Chapati or rice and dal
